If you follow me on Instagram (@pooja_balasubs) and WhatsApp, you would know I’ve been bombarding you all with an article/video every other day! Better yet, this initiative got me in touch with so many people who were like-minded, enjoyed reading the posts and in-turn shared from their side as well.
You must think, ‘It is such an ineffective way to share content!’. I don’t blame you, I thought the same as well. But I started out there as those were the two most popular platforms. I also wanted to introduce the notion that Instagram and WhatsApp stories can be used for more than just sharing pictures from everyday life.
This was about 4 months back. (Can’t believe it’s been 4 months!)
It grew slowly, after a while I started noticing a set of people who always PMed me to ask for links/discuss about what I posted/share from their side. I thought, ‘These people have been so amazing in always taking time to PM me and talk to me, I should create a dedicated group somewhere so they can share not just with me, but with each other’. I thought of a Facebook group initially, and then LinkedIn and finally landed upon Slack (thanks to Kaushik Anand who suggested it).
On 4th of July, I woke up and thought, ‘I’ve been putting this off for so long. It feels like today is the day to finally create a group. Let’s do it’. This is literally what went in my head, and hence, I went ahead and did. Now the group has close to a 100 people. I cannot say how thrilled I am! It is the idea of bringing such diverse strangers together to share content in a safe, encouraging and cultivating environment. That’s what I hope this group would turn out to be!
Are you interested in being a part of this? Simple. Simply comment below saying ‘I’m interested!’ or email me at email@example.com. I’ll email you with the invite link! Let’s spread knowledge.
